Here’s a quick guide on the GST rate and HSN code applicable to mobile phones and accessories. Before GST, mobile phone price wasn’t uniform across the states in India. This was due to different tax rates (VAT) applicable in all the States.

After GST, a uniform rate is fixed on mobile phones across the states in India. Currently, the GST rate on any mobile phone is 18% and the related HSN code is 8517.

GST rates on mobile phones and allied parts was increased from 12% to 18% in 39th GST Council meeting.
